Welcome

Welcome to the Hackberry Library!

The Hackberry Library is home to all kinds of books - picture books, chapter books, nonfiction, biographies, and graphic novels. We have both bilingual and Spanish books available in each of these categories as well. We also have magazines, DVD's, audiobooks, Big Books, professional books, and parenting resources. Both computers and iPads are available for students to search the library catalog and utilize our many databases, such as World Book, Britannica Online, and PebbleGo. Our library currently holds about 20,000 books! Our library is a resource for all students because we offer a wide variety of books for all different reading levels and interests. We support ELL's by offering a large number of books that are in Spanish, as well as bilingual titles that offer English and Spanish side by side. We also have many of the exact same titles in both English and Spanish to support students in our strong dual language program.    Every student in Kindergarten through 5th grade visits the Makerspace and Library each week for STEM activities and lessons, as well as the opportunity to check out books. Kindergarten and First Grade students check out one book a week that they may take home. Students in 2nd - 5th grade check out two books a week, and may check out three books or more as needed for assignments. Parents are welcome to stop by to check out additional books to read at home. Books are checked out for two weeks at a time, but we never charge fines. Students may visit the library before school, during the day, or after school to exchange books if they finish their books before their library day.

The Hackberry Library is an exciting and fun place for students to visit and explore! Our library is in the center of the school and is easily available to everyone. We have many fun and exciting programs going on throughout the year, including Reading Incentive Programs such as Pizza Hut Book It! and Six Flags Read to Succeed, a Storybook Pumpkin Decorating Contest in the Fall, the Texas Bluebonnet Program for 3rd - 5th graders, Book Clubs, a Read Across Little Elm Celebration in the Spring, reading celebrations, and two Scholastic Book Fairs full of exciting events and activities.
